Weaving Magic Retreat, March 2025, Mexico - the Magnitude of Collaboration!

This event is rooted in intuition and creativity - born from a collaboration between Jacob of OhmBrella and 'TreeNet Willy' Will Reynolds, they embark on tree-net and hand woven installations around the world, and offer the masterclass weaving courses during week-long imersive retreats. As a worldwide net-weaving movement evolves they are bringing this emergent craft to enthusiasts and creatives, tying a global network of weavers together, through the unique events and a growing community.

"I sit now with as much intent as i can, inhale, exhale, as I tune back in to the energy of that week in March 2025. It was one of those weeks that evokes such potent emotions that it has to be recorded while its still relatively fresh. In honour of that journey we all shared, and also the magnitude of what was achieved.

Not to be soppy or in any way clichéd, but it really was a week we'll never forget. I'll do my best here to explain why.

It was the second ever Weaving Magic Retreat. This time set in the eye watering location of Playa Viva in Mexico - A coastal paradise and regenerative eco-hotel that has received two Michelin keys for its hospitality and awards for dedication to conservation and sustainability. Was such an honour to support their setup and work with their team.

To set the scene, 13 perfect strangers arrived in the remote paradise location on a Sunday, were greeted by me and the team at beach side, and we started the week with the ritual fire ceremony and introduction to the week ahead. Gatheting in the manner in which ancient society began - Food served around a fire in the open air, under the stars, with stories of ancient wisdom and magic to bring us all under the same ether. Into the same heartspace.

The week was then designed to lead the group through a cascade of protocols that invoke a sense of freedom, empowerment, natural wellness and alignment. Mornings of silence and communal breathwork, nervous system and vagal tone work...evenings of immersive sound journeys, carefully programmed sonic explorations of frequency and vibration... delicious food served from the on-site farm...gently, gradually and fully bringing us all away from the modern day, reactionary, fight/flight modes, deeper and deeper each day into rest and digest and regerative modes. A communal, deep dive into 'emotionally collaborative' and creative 'socially conducive' states...

The afternoons were solid tree-net weaving. A fully led, masterclass curriculum in the craft designed by Will Reynolds. We were among the trees, in the jungle, with the birds and bees, biting ants and critters, weaving into motion. Meeting ourselves in the net. Where all the tension and frustration can be channeled, and creativity pursued. All the metaphors were obvious, that the rope, the net, the medium itself, was the structure we were both living in and creating together. This where the magic really happens. When the hands start to feel the flow and the knees bounce to the music being played, and smile widens...well it takes a few days to get the hang...but from our point of view its clear. The group begins to move like one muscle, sticking like glue yet flowing like water.

But by the end, the group of 20 including the facilitators and team, had created this epic 50sqm net you see in the images. This is what I often refer to as 'space activation' and these nets serve as nature connection experiences and areas for humans to reconnect with nature in an elevated, playful state. An honour to provide them to the locations that allow it.

A true feat of collaborative work and communcative behaviour with net positive impact, nopunintended.

In a way, as I tell everyone on day one, its a social human experiment. The question in my mind - Can we, as a group of strangers, synchronise and enhance/repair our nervous systems and overall wellbeing, through ritualistic approach to the day and community, channeling creativity into a real positive object for the world, at the same time as bonding with eachother and closening to our own sense of self and abundant creativity? I can say now for sure the experiment works. Excitement further surges as I now go more into planning the third in the series - Weaving Magic Retreat UK 2025, August 24-30 at Broughton Sanctuary & Avalon Wellbeing.

This Mexico group was particularly exceptional as a mix, but there is no favouritism. Each of you reading, I send you great love and respect. Honestly I believe anyone crazy enough to join us on this adventure is already a superhuman nutbag, and definitely has what it takes to create whatever they want in the world. We are definitely here to supoort those humans.

Total waste materials: 20 people weaving for five days, a 50sqm structure

The willingness, openess and positivity from these individuals is what made is such an incredible honour to facilitate. Imagine that from our point of view - turning up to run this event and every single person is an absolute dream and whats more, and inspiration each in their own right. Epic. So much to give. We got so much from you all! Guards were dropped, masks were taken off, labels and plaguerism were left at the door, and we were all free and able to meet our higher truths and express them in a way that caused good to occur around us. We tied knots of the past and secured a platform for our future growth, literally, as we walked the sand beach paths and jungle tracks between boogie boarding the waves and weaving in the trees.

Everyone on the retreat received certification in the weaving and now we go on to include those weavers in live projects around the world. We'll carry that process on as long as it makes sense. Its an incredibly exciting time and thank you to everyone involved in the Retreat.

Its taken me two decades of leading groups, building teams and evoking inspiration to find a medium that truly works. In my own way i deliver this crazy experience (you can only really know from being there) to my utmost possible ability and containing my highest integrity and magic, to allow participants to benefit the most. I believe and teach that there is a way for us each to follow our highest sense of intuition and creativity and to be able to build the life from it which serves us and those around us best.
